Things to do on Oahu

Oahu is the most populated island in the Hawaiian chain, home to Honolulu and roughly one million residents across a territory of about 1,545 square kilometres.

The south shore around Waikiki and downtown Honolulu is where most visitors sleep; the windward coast at Kailua and Kaneohe, the North Shore around Haleiwa, and the drier leeward coast at Ko Olina each sit 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes away by car, depending on traffic.

A rental car is worth it for anything beyond Honolulu, since TheBus and the Skyline metro currently only cover the urban core. This page is a map, not a checklist: it points each type of trip toward the right region.
