Things to do in Honolulu

Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii and the seat of a city and county that covers the whole island of Oahu, with roughly 350,000 people in its urban core out of about 1 million islandwide. It is not the same place as Waikiki, which is a beach neighborhood at its southeastern edge.

The centre spreads across downtown, Chinatown, Ala Moana and the university area of Manoa, about a 15 to 20 minute drive from Honolulu International Airport (HNL) depending on traffic. TheBus and the growing Skyline rail cover the city, though Skyline does not yet reach Waikiki.

Expect steady northeast trade winds and daytime highs around 29 to 31C in summer, 26 to 27C in winter.
