Things to do in Ko Olina

Ko Olina is Oahu's resort cluster on the leeward coast, built around four artificial lagoons protected by rock breakwaters, roughly 30 kilometres (about 40-50 minutes by car in normal traffic) west of Waikiki.

There is no direct bus or rail link from Waikiki, so a rental car or a booked transfer is practically required to reach it and to explore anything beyond the resort grounds. The trade-off is calmer, shallower water than most Waikiki beaches, drier and sunnier weather on the leeward side, and large full-service hotels with pools built for young children.

It suits families wanting protected water and travellers who prefer a resort base to Waikiki's noise, less so anyone without a car or wanting to stay close to Honolulu's urban sights.
